Each entry is the release as it was published on the Microsoft Store, dated the day it went live. Entries are never rewritten afterwards; if an earlier note turns out to be wrong, the correction appears in a later release.
Releases before 2.2.1 are not recorded here.
Space Analyzer is the new name for Disk-Space-Analyzer - same app, now with a proper icon and a lot more under the hood.
Renamed and redesigned
- New name and a new app icon, drawn fresh for every size from 16px to 256px
- Folders in the Treemap are now outlined, so you can see where one ends and the next begins
- Charts colour folders by what is actually inside them, not one flat colour
Much faster scanning
- Large drives scan dramatically faster: folders are shared across up to 16 worker threads wherever the data sits, instead of one thread doing most of the work
- Folder scans and tidy drives are no longer stuck on a single thread
- Fast NTFS scan now tells you why it fell back, so you know whether running as administrator would help
More control
- Delete permanently, alongside delete to Recycle Bin
- Hide the File Types, Largest Files or File Age tabs if you do not use them
- Change something in File Explorer and a Sync changes button appears, rescanning only the folders that changed
Smoother to use
- Moving back up to a parent folder is no longer slow on large scans
- Resizing the window, and hovering over the charts, are far smoother
- The window, taskbar and Start menu now show a real app icon
Fixes
- Switching between the Sunburst, File Types, Largest Files and File Age tabs
- The app no longer appears to freeze when a large scan finishes
Version 2.2.1 is a major update packed with new tools, big performance gains, and a more polished interface since 1.1.2.
New tools
- Largest Files view, File Age chart (click a bucket to reveal those files in Explorer)
- Verified duplicate finder (SHA256), snapshot compare for tracking growth over time
- HTML export, CSV export and re-import
Faster scanning
- Scan speed dramatically improved on large drives (fixed a bug that could leave scans running effectively single-threaded)
- Parallel multi-drive scanning, pre-scan include/exclude filters
- Long file path and Alternate Data Stream support, drag a folder in to scan it
- Hard-link-aware size-on-disk reporting
Bulk actions
- Select files by filter, then delete or move in bulk
- Bulk find-and-replace renaming
Better visuals
- Customizable category colors (presets + hue shift) across every chart
- Live category coloring in the file list
- Windows taskbar progress indicator and on-screen scan timer
Interface
- Resizable, scrollable Settings that adapts to any window size
- Double-click to open files, F2 to rename, Delete to Recycle Bin, copy/cut
- Right-click "Open Command Prompt here" / Properties, advanced search filters
- Drag files out to Explorer, export the treemap as an image
Fixes
- Crash when cancelling a scan
- Stale Explorer right-click entry after an update
- Progress indicator appearing frozen when the window loses focus mid-scan
