AuthBox — Support
Last updated 30 September 2026
Email Hio-Mitos@gladiators.city and you'll get a reply, usually within a few days.
Please don't send a secret key, a recovery phrase or your master password — they are never needed to help you. The same goes for screenshots showing a QR code or a live six-digit code: anyone who sees those can generate your codes.
Before you write in
The quickest route is Report a problem or Send feedback in the app's ⋯ menu. AuthBox fills in the version and your Windows build, shows you the complete message first, and opens it in your own email program — it sends nothing by itself, and nothing from your vault is ever included.
If you would rather write the email yourself, the same version details are on the About AuthBox screen. Including them answers most of the first round of questions.
Common questions
I forgot my master password. Can you reset it?
No, and neither can anyone else. Your vault is encrypted with a key derived from that password alone. AuthBox has no servers, no account and no recovery key, so there is nothing to reset and no back door to use. This is the trade for a vault nobody but you can open. If the password is gone, the accounts in that vault have to be re-added from each service's own recovery process.
Where does AuthBox keep my data?
In a single folder on your own PC, encrypted, at Documents\AuthBox.
Nothing is ever uploaded anywhere. The privacy policy lists
every file the app writes.
Does uninstalling delete my accounts?
No. Windows gives Store apps no uninstall step that could ask you, so uninstalling leaves your vaults where they are — which means reinstalling or upgrading never destroys your accounts. When you do want everything gone deliberately, Settings carries a Remove all AuthBox data from this PC button. Files you put in the AuthBox folder yourself are never touched.
My codes are rejected as wrong.
Almost always a clock problem: TOTP codes are derived from the current time, so a PC whose clock has drifted by more than about thirty seconds produces codes the service won't accept. Turn on automatic time in Windows Settings → Time & language, or use Sync time in AuthBox to see how far off you are and correct for it.
Can I carry AuthBox on a USB stick?
Yes. AuthBox can set up a portable copy of a profile on a removable drive from within the app, so you can use your accounts on another PC.
The app locked itself while I was using it.
Auto-lock is on by default. The delay is configurable in Settings, including turning it off.
Reporting a security issue
If you believe you've found a vulnerability, email Hio-Mitos@gladiators.city with the details and please hold off on publishing until it's fixed.
Reporting a problem
When reporting a bug, it helps to include what you did, what you expected and what happened instead, alongside the version details above. Screenshots are welcome as long as they do not show a secret key or a QR code.
