The short version
- Your clipboard history stays on your PC, in memory only. It is never saved to disk and never sent anywhere.
- The app makes no network connections. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.
- We only receive information about you if you choose to email us.
This policy explains how Clipboard Typer (the "app"), published by Hio Mitos ("we", "us"), handles information. The app is a Windows utility that remembers text you copy and can type it back out for you as simulated keystrokes or a normal paste.
1. Information the app handles on your device
Text you copy
To build its clipboard history, the app reads text that you copy to the Windows clipboard. Non-text content such as images or files is ignored. The history:
- holds at most the last 50 text items;
- is kept in your computer's memory (RAM) only and is never written to disk;
- is never transmitted off your device;
- is erased when you quit or restart the app, or when you choose Clear history from the tray menu.
You can pause history collection at any time by unchecking Monitoring enabled in the tray menu.
Text you copy can include sensitive information such as passwords. Because the history lives in memory on your own PC, it is as private as your Windows session. We recommend using Clear history after copying anything sensitive, and pausing monitoring while working with confidential material.
Keyboard input
The app does not record or log what you type. It only:
- uses the standard Windows shortcut system to detect its own two shortcuts (by default Win+Alt+V and Ctrl+Alt+V);
- checks whether the Esc key is held down while it is typing, so you can cancel;
- reads the keys you press while the "Customize shortcuts" window is open and recording a new shortcut.
It only types text when you trigger it yourself.
Settings
Your preferences, such as your custom shortcuts and which options are switched on, are
stored locally in the Windows registry under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ClipboardTyper. They contain no clipboard content
and never leave your PC. If you turn on Run at startup, that setting is
managed by Windows itself and can also be changed in Windows Settings > Apps >
Startup.
2. Information we do not collect
The app does not connect to the internet. It does not use accounts, advertising, analytics, location data or tracking of any kind, and it does not sell or share data, because it does not collect any.
If a future version adds optional features that send information off your device, such as opt-in crash reports, we will update this policy before that version is released and explain exactly what is sent. Any such feature will be off unless you choose to turn it on.
3. When you contact us
If you choose Send feedback / report a bug from the tray menu, the app opens your own email program with a new message addressed to us. To help us assist you, the message is pre-filled with the app's version number, whether it was installed from the Microsoft Store, and your Windows version. You can review or delete any of this before sending, and nothing is sent unless you press Send.
When you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use this only to respond to you and to fix problems or improve the app. We keep it only for as long as needed for that purpose, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
4. Microsoft Store
When you download, install or update the app through the Microsoft Store, Microsoft may collect information under its own Microsoft Privacy Statement, which we do not control. Microsoft may give developers aggregated reports, such as install counts and crash statistics, which do not identify you personally to us.
5. Children
The app is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Your choices and rights
Everything the app handles stays on your device and is under your control: clear the history, pause monitoring, or uninstall the app through Windows Settings > Apps. For the Microsoft Store version, Windows removes the app together with its saved settings when you uninstall it.
The only personal information we may hold is correspondence you have sent us. You can ask us to access, correct or delete it at any time by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data-protection law, and we will honour them.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, mention them in the app's Microsoft Store release notes.
