Need help, found a bug, or have a suggestion?
Email Hio-Mitos@gladiators.city
You can also do it from the app: right-click the Clipboard Typer icon in the notification area (system tray) and choose Send feedback / report a bug. Your email app opens with the app version and Windows version already filled in. We aim to reply within a few business days.
Getting started
After you start Clipboard Typer, it runs quietly in the notification area near the clock. If you don't see it, click the ^ arrow to show hidden icons. Copy text as usual, and Clipboard Typer remembers your last 50 text items.
| Default shortcut | What it does |
|---|---|
| Win + Alt + V | Opens your clipboard history. Click an item or press Enter to type it; press Ctrl + Enter to paste it normally instead. |
| Ctrl + Alt + V | Instantly types the most recently copied text. |
| Esc (hold) | Stops typing partway through. You can switch this off in the tray menu. |
Typing text, rather than pasting it, works where pasting is blocked or unavailable, for example in some Remote Desktop sessions, virtual machines and login fields.
Frequently asked questions
How do I change the shortcuts?
Right-click the tray icon, choose Customize shortcuts..., click Change, then press your new combination. It must include at least one of Ctrl, Alt, Shift or Win. If another app already uses that combination, Clipboard Typer tells you and lets you pick a different one.
A shortcut does nothing, or I get a "shortcut already in use" message
Another running app has claimed the same key combination. Close that app or change its shortcut, or pick a different combination in Customize shortcuts....
Nothing gets typed into an app that runs as administrator
Windows blocks normal apps from sending keystrokes to apps running as administrator. Choose Restart as Administrator from the tray menu, then try again. For security reasons, Windows never allows any app to type into the User Account Control (UAC) consent prompt itself.
Characters go missing when typing into a remote session
Very long texts over slow connections can occasionally drop characters. Try typing shorter pieces. Characters that your keyboard layout can't produce, such as many emoji, can't be typed into Remote Desktop sessions at all. Use Ctrl + Enter to paste them instead.
"Run at startup" won't turn on, or says "blocked in Windows Settings"
If startup was switched off in Task Manager or Windows Settings, Windows only lets you switch it back on there. Clipboard Typer offers to open the right page for you, or go to Settings > Apps > Startup and switch Clipboard Typer on. If it says "blocked by policy", your organization manages this setting. Contact your IT administrator.
Is my clipboard history saved or sent anywhere?
No. It stays in memory on your PC only, and is erased when you quit the app or choose Clear history. The app makes no network connections. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I uninstall Clipboard Typer?
Right-click the tray icon and choose Quit. Then go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Clipboard Typer, and choose Uninstall.
System requirements
